KU Students, Prepare to Save Thousands on Tuition!
It's nearly the one year anniversary of Kansas passing a tuition bill aiding illegal immigrants. That's right, Kansas, along with eight other states currently offer in-state tuition rates to children of illegal aliens. Six more are currently considering it.
Kansas feels these illegal aliens are part of their community, thus deserve the education provided by tax dollars of Kansas's legal residents. However, even if an illegal goes through the Kansas education system and comes out with a degree from KU, KSU, or countless other colleges in Kansas, it would still be illegal for any company to higher them.
So what about the saving KU students money? Well, I thought you'd want me to get to that and here it is...
If you are a legal resident of the united states and are currently paying out of state tuition to a Kansas university, or to one of the other eight states offering in-state tuition rates to illegals, you are entitled to the same rates regardless of your residence. That means no one, not one single person, should be paying out of state tuition to Kansas universities.
Here is the relevant law as written in the ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION REFORM AND IMMIGRANT RESPONSIBILITY
ACT OF 1996.
SEC. 505. LIMITATION ON ELIGIBILITY FOR PREFERENTIAL
TREATMENT OF ALIENS NOT LAWFULLY PRESENT ON
BASIS OF RESIDENCE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
BENEFITS.
(a) In General.--Notwithstanding any other provision of
law, an alien who is not lawfully present in the United
States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within
a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary
education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United
States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount,
duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or
national is such a resident.
(b) Effective Date.--This section shall apply to benefits
provided on or after July 1, 1998.
If you are a student in one of these states, immediately contact your admissions office and demand refunds for paid tuition and demand in-state rates for all future tuition. Failure of the school to provide you with the above is illegal and can be resolved through civil litigation. It costs just $15 to bring a small claims case in the state of Kansas.
Have fun,
