Why Does Pepsi Hate America?
I'd like to introduce you to Indra Nooyi, President and CEO of PepsiCo. Nooyi is an Indian-American acclaimed as one of the most powerful corporate executives in America. Oh yeah, and she hates America.
The 2005 graduating class of Columbia Business school's MBA program were shocked as Nooyi compared the five major continents of the world to the five fingers of the human hand...
"First was Africa -the pinky finger - small and somewhat insignificant but when hurt, the entire hand hurt with it. Next was Asia - the thumb - strong and powerful, yearning to become a bigger player on the world stage. Third was Europe - the index finger - pointing the way. Fourth was South America - the ring finger - the finger which symbolizes love and sensualness."
Nooyi then reserved the remaining finger for the United States (and not North America), launching into "a diatribe about how the US is the middle finger to the rest of the world."
PepsiCo officials said Nooyi's remarks had been taken out of context and they could not be seen as anything but pro-American and supportive of the United States and its role as a global leader. And while Nooyi, herself, continues to back pedal on the comments she made, one has to ask where her and PepsiCo's loyalties lie.
In 2004, PepsiCo had net income of $985 million. Aparently, America isn't all that bad since we spend over a billion dollars a year on their products. These products consist of the following companies and brands:

Needless to say, concerned Americans are urging the boycott of PepsiCo products and subsidiary companies until PepsiCo takes action against their President and CEO and makes a public statement to that regard. Some are going as far as calling on boycotts of companies that even carry PepsiCo products.
It's one thing to criticize U.S. policy, it's quite another to defame the country that has provided you and the world with such great opportunity. I can say I am a proud American, despite my contempt with current U.S. policy of exploiting cheap foreign labor and exporting U.S. jobs and currency. I can also say I will proudly boycott PepsiCo and their brands until they start respecting the country that has provided them with their enormous wealth.
Have fun,
